About me

I'm currently building awesome teams, culture, products and services at Twitter. I’ve designed and built global brands, marketing campaigns, apps used by millions, and refined a platform used by billions worldwide.

I've been a Taekwondo champion, professional powerboat racer, graphic artist, art director, advertising creative, founder and startup mentor. My greatest role to date is Dad to two beautiful girls. I've been fortunate in my career to have worked on some of the world’s most cherished brands and products, whilst working alongside and learning from incredible and inspiring people. My philosophy is to face each project with fresh passion and integrity, exceed expectations, and have fun along the way.

I am responsible for driving the future of Twitter innovation. Our open platform launched in 2021. This top priority objective enables our developer community and partners to enhance and provide services that support Twitters mission (to serve the public conversation) on the global stage, without the constraints of company resource and scale.

Head of Design & Research
[Interim]

For 6 months I operated as Interim Head of Design & Research for Twitter, reporting directly to the CEO and responsible for the 280+ design and research organization. During this time I reshaped our inclusive hiring strategy, re-wrote the design and research career journeys (level definitions), reset our promotion process (removing bias), and was instrumental in policy changes for advertisers, electioneers and hate speech on the platform.

Twitter Revenue Products & Services

In this role I was responsible for driving change at scale, growing the design team from 12 > 60+. Adding Director and Management layers, new functions including art, motion, video, prototyping, content strategy, design program management, design engineers and supporting the growth of our research department with dedicated arms for quant’ and qual’. I founded teams to support our internal tools, revenue diversity, developer platform, and design systems. This investment has transformed the organization from an iterative service to a competitive advantage that drives product excellence and innovation. I introduced our agency roster and supported multiple acquisitions. And, most importantly I set the long term vision for diversifying our revenue stream and product portfolio.

Snr Design Manager
Android Enterprise

Design lead for the Android Enterprise Design & Research team. Responsible for designing Google’s Enterprise experience for the 2.5 Billion Android users and enhancing all 1st party applications to become ‘Enterprise grade’ (Gmail, Calendar, Tasks, Docs, Sheets, Slides etc).

Global Creative Director

Responsible for design and brand architecture across all Divide products. Directing and mentoring the design team. Building the brand identity and equity across all mediums & marketing materials. Product strategy and ideation, feature development and deployment across multiple platforms. Communicating at executive level across three company timezones. Implementing best practices and optimizing process, integrating design into the Agile methodology. Ensuring proactive not reactive execution of emerging UX paradigms and UI trends.

LIGHTBOX

Creative Director / Product Lead

Responsible for brand creation and guardianship across Lightbox products and platforms, product design, user interface and cross platform development. Working closely with a team of software engineers to ensure the product was both functional and beautiful with an emphasis on user experience. Additionally responsible for quality control, marketing and PR. The Lightbox App reached 2.5+ million downloads in 9 months before being acquired by Facebook. It was awarded PC World top 100 products of 2011.

Developing strategic creative across all media channels, integrated marketing communications and interactive experiences. Responsible for multiple teams serving brands at Europe’s largest B2B design agency. Overseeing the creative process from brand guardianship, team management and production, whilst maintaining creative excellence across all deliverables. Gyro built it’s reputation servicing technology clients. During the technology downturn it became my responsibility to advise approach and pitch to new industry sectors, successfully building a sustainable client portfolio. During my tenure the team received a number of industry awards as well as the coveted ‘Investors in people’ kite-mark.

Founder / Creative Director

As founder of Aspect my responsibilities stretched from creative direction and design, to business management and sales. This London based boutique design company was founded under my philosophy to create a workspace that was inspirational, thoughtful and fun. The work reflected this. The staff grew tenfold in two years and became preferred supplier to many public sector, private sector and blue chip companies until its successful acquisition.

Life Principles

I live by specific life principles. They come from years of training in Taekwondo and they are known as the tenets of Taekwondo.
